I absolutely love how easily my B&W Companion slider operates! It’s way easier to operate the pin jaws than my old hitch with its spring-loaded bar latch. And the bearing slider moves smoothly without binding like my old rolling slider. I can’t stress enough how much more confident I feel using this high quality 5th wheel hitch.

I purchased the B&W 20K Companion Slider & Underbed Mount System (UMS) for my 2015 Ford F150 extended cab (with 6 foot bed) over a year ago because it was the only solution that was removable. Construction and finish was very nice and still looks great. Installation wasn't too difficult but the 4” hole in the bed needs to be exact otherwise getting it square will be very difficult. Overall the slider works great but must be mounted directly on the bed and cannot be mounted over a plastic bed liner. Once installed everything worked great however after numerous trips I've yet to need or use the slider backing up as I can turn 80+ degrees without ever hitting or coming close to the truck cab (towing 2018 Cougar Half Ton Series 5th wheel). Also the slider is very heavy (head 75 lbs + base 207 lbs = 282 lbs) to remove and install (takes two people or an overhead winch). Plus the overall hitch weight (head, base & UMS is 394 lbs) puts me very close to the GVWR once the truck & trailer is fully loaded hence in hindsight I probably should have gone with the fixed 5th wheel hitch (total just 318 lbs compared to 400 lbs) instead as it would have saved 81 lbs and costs $489 less but at least I have the option to slide it back if ever needed.606485

I knew this was big, but I didn't know it was THIS BIG! I have an '03 Ford F250 SuperDuty, Crew Cab, 4x4, short bed with a B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck hitch, and this slider was highly recommended by many across the internet and locally.

My delivery date was about 20-days out from order date, however, it came 13 days early, much to my uninformed surprise. T-Force shippers came by my home at least 2x and did not even call me so I could arrange to be present to help them. My wife happened to come home and the driver had just turned around in our cul-de-sac and saw her pull in the driveway.

The T-Force driver was able to connect with my wife, and he was so kind and professional during the entire delivery. Much to my surprise, the driver brought the entire shipment into my garage and was sooo kind to allow my wife a moment to clear a convenient space for the hitch. The driver actually brought the hitch INTO my garage and did not leave it at the curb like so many other shippers have done with other items I have purchased over the years!

I AM AMAZED AND THANKFUL FOR THE T-FORCE DRIVER and his PROFESSIONALISM!

I read the shipping documents when I came home and saw that the entire shipment was 310 lbs, not sure if the pallet and boxes were included, I have to assume YES, but expect the hitch to weigh about 250lbs - 275lbs, and I cannot find a weight in the item on etrailer.

It took 3 of us to lift the base into the bed of my truck and get it seated into the gooseneck hitch. I still have to adjust the runners for the bed ridges, but that will be easy enough when it warms up a bit. My intent was to get the garage floor space back.

I did not even notice it being in the truck as the ride seems to be about the same, but I do not wish to keep it in the truck when not being used so I can use my truck like a truck. The hitch takes up most of the bed of my short bed F250, and I hope to experience that I made a good choice with the slider in a week or two.

Due to the weight of the assembly, I am going to try and use my engine hoist to install/remove it as I cannot do so by myself, it is extremely heavy and awkward. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! Unless you have adequate help, you should consider how you will remove it from your vehicle.

Overall my experience with eTrailer over the years has been perfect and this purchase was perfect as well. eTrailer has been consistent with me and I like that.

The quality of the B&W products, MADE IN AMERICA, are TOP NOTCH and EXPENSIVE. But you get what you pay for and I would in no way risk my families safety on some cheap CHINAMART equipment like this.

I absolutely love my Companion hitch. It is the quietest hitch I have ever owned.
It also has the the strongest and thickest jaws around the fifth wheel king pin I have ever owned. The slide is very easy to operate and even though it is quite heavy for a 69 year old man to take it out and put it in my truck I still would recommend it to anyone who needs a combo gooseneck and fifth wheel hitch set up.
There is absolutely no slop or movement of the king pin in the jaws, unlike most other style fifth wheel hitches that I have owned in the past.
In my opinion you would have to go way out on a limb to try and top this one.

The B and W Companion gooseneck and fifth wheel adapter works very nicely and when removed the pickup box has no additional brackets or hardware that get in the way of the load. The only reason I did not give it a full 5 stars is that it is too heavy to be removed by one person unless assisted by a lifting device. I use my portable cherry picker to lift it out of the receiver tube. Other than that small issue I am very happy with the product and would purchase it again.479679

I have pulled my 34 foot 5th wheel over 7000, miles in the year that I have owned the Companion hitch and have had no issues. Being new to a 5th wheel I have nothing to compare it to, but I couldn’t imagine anything out performing this setup. I still appreciate the fact that when I pull the hitch out of the box of my truck there is nothing that interferes with any load that I haul, weather it is a load of lumber or landscaping mulch. Only down side is the overall weight of the hitch when I remove it alone, I do need a mobile cherry picker. Well worth the price and would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks for the feedback, we have had other customers tell us that they do some disassembly of the head from the base to help when removing their companion from the bed of their truck. It is still a daunting task, but eliminating some weight while trying to move it works a little better.

Great be sure to get the fifth wheel kingpin lifter to lift the 5th wheel out so you have a truck bed We use the sliding 5th wheel when we hook up so it is closer to me as I line it up

This hitch feels incredibly well made and B&W customer support is incredible. One of the bed rail strips came loose after a month or so of owning it and only a few uses. Turns out the screw was stripped. After contacting B&W looking to purchase a replacement as it was likely my mistake, they sent a whole new strip free of charge. I will definitely purchase B&W products from etrailer again.896886

The B&W Companion hitch is great. I pull a 40 foot fifth wheel at about 14000 lbs. Great ride with no "chucking". It can be tough to take in and out of bed. I use a small utility tractor with pallet forks and that makes it real easy to do by yourself. If not, plan on two people at least to put in and take out.1353838

Upgraded to the B&W slider from an Anderson Ultimate. The reason was the short bed truck I'm pulling with. Initially the hitch was awesome and slid easily. While it says there is no lubrication required, it started sliding really hard (had to hold the trailer brakes and jerk the truck forward pretty hard to get it to slide back). I tried dry lube - no better. Finally shot some wd-40 on the slide bars and under the hitch and it's back to gliding pretty well. Another shortfall are the rubber bumpers that are and the end of each slide rail - they don't hold the hitch tight enough in position so I do get some noise as the hitch moves (ever so slightly) back and forth. The hitch is solid (heavy) and well built. If buying again I'd likely get an auto slider even with the extra weight it costs me in the bed of the truck872357

Great product. The sliding adapter allows for a trouble free parking experience. This is the smartest purchase I've made in a long time. Our fellow traveling family bought a fixed gooseneck hitch. Didn't work out so well. My buddy put a dimple in the upper left rear corner of his new 2017 F-250 due to lack of clearance with his fifth wheel. Broke out his back window too. A no-kidding $10,000 repair (aluminum pillar could not be repaired, required complete roof swap). He saw my sliding set up, bought one that week. He loves his too. I've even swapped the fifth wheel adapter to one of my other trucks. Would recommend this product to anyone.679011
